The people in these underserved communities lack basic medical services, but are unable to afford the journey to seek treatment. Though the collective action of volunteer health workers, local doctors, professional nurses and assistants, the Dorjhana Foundation provides free diagnostic testing and medical care to individuals living in these impoverished, isolated communities
Our model, which employs only local doctors and resources, is a truly revolutionary approach. This approach has been demonstrably successful in meeting our objective: enabling and encouraging local doctors to take action themselves to improve the health care system, thereby minimizing the impact on Nepal’s indigenous culture while still vastly improving the quality of life for the people in these communities.
