RYAN
JAMES (Sam)
- The opportunity to play the role of Sam in "3719
Broadleaf Road" was
a special thrill for Ryan, knowing that director Max Hoffman hand-picked
him for this, Ryan's fifth film. Included among Ryan's other film
work is the lead in "Pharaoh's Heart," working with Rod
Steiger in "A Month of Sundays," and playing a young Lukas
Haas in "The
Pearl." Ryan's forte has been challenging roles focused on a
variety of serious issues, including guest-starring in "Judging
Amy" as
a young boy who believes he is a girl, a "Strong Medicine" guest-starring
role as a suspected abuse victim, and flashbacks as the hermaphrodite
serial killer Paul/Pauline Millander of the "CSI" trilogy.
Less serious roles in lighter programs have included recurring as
young Jerry, Oliver Beene's father in the sitcom of the same name,
co-starring on "The Bernie Mac Show," and the recurring
role of Brian in "State of Grace." Despite Ryan's dedication
to his acting career, he has found time for tap and hip-hop dance,
4 years as a Junior Olympic diver, and 7 years of competitive gymnastics.
His spare-time activities include riding his Honda in the hills and
deserts, airsofting, skiing and snowboarding, and learning bass guitar. |
